Take a moment to brush away the sand from your glass and let's dive into one of the more underrated tools in marketing. One that when handled correctly can multiply conversion rates immediately.
I'm sure you have hundreds of questions about bullet points (who doesn't) but let's get one basic one out of the way...
Why are they called "bullet points" in the first place?
I’m sure there’s the detailed dictionary, linguistically, analysis of the history of the term - but personally I rather like the built-in metaphor it brings to mind.
A "bullet", as in ammunition, is a magnificent metaphor for "bullet point" the literary symbol... even if that wasn’t meant to be.
A bullet point, much like an actual bullet, is...
I am sure they are more relatable metaphorical attributes, but I’m already dangerously close to a politically incorrect statement, so let’s shift from metaphor to reality.
In marketing, bullet points are often incorrectly brushed off as just a type of summary... many writers casually summarize a product's features without much thought to the potential power and wasted real estate of the bullet point section.

You see, one bullet may appeal to one specific type of individual, maybe one who's more emotionally driven. While another can be designed to appeal to another distinct type of personality. This is why I like to think of bullet points as "conversation starters" with my audience's subconscious, each having its own particular appeal and angle.
Let's take a look at how to craft remarkable bullet points to maximum results...
As you can see it's not all that complex, but that's the point! We want them to be focused and get to their point quickly without much fluff.
Nextly - Where should we be using bullet points?
There are different schools of thought but in marketing terms I find bullets to do best in the following situations:
Now here is something that even experienced marketers can improve on... expanding upon the BENEFIT in the bullet point. On the sales page for my book (I've also used this strategy many times on different products), you will notice that it doesn’t just list out a few different features/benefits... it lists at least 30 of them.
Some refer to specific chapters of the book others, while others might refer to just one specific paragraph in the book.
The point of this bullet point section isn’t to just list "what precisely in the book" as much as going into what really matters to the potential buyer: the results they can expect to experience if they purchase the book.
In short don’t just list what your product or service does, list out the benefits of its many distinct features.
Consider how they all work together to build upon the core promise of the product/service, this paints a beautiful picture for your prospect of an ideal result from making the purchase. This also creates an inform buyer, resulting in happier customers and can inspire action in even the most skeptical of prospects.
Now that you have the form and function of compelling bullet points, the next step is to answer the question:
What benefits are profoundly important to my audience?
Consider this,
Many of the benefits are clear to you...
... especially if you created the product/service to solve a problem for yourself.
However, there are always many benefits (often the most powerful ones) that our experience alone can't surface.
This is especially true if we are working for someone else’s product/service.

I'm sure you have hundreds of questions about bullet points (who doesn't) but let's get one basic one out of the way...
Why are they called "bullet points" in the first place?
I’m sure there’s the detailed dictionary, linguistically, analysis of the history of the term - but personally I rather like the built-in metaphor it brings to mind.
A "bullet", as in ammunition, is a magnificent metaphor for "bullet point" the literary symbol... even if that wasn’t meant to be.
A bullet point, much like an actual bullet, is...
I am sure they are more relatable metaphorical attributes, but I’m already dangerously close to a politically incorrect statement, so let’s shift from metaphor to reality.
In marketing, bullet points are often incorrectly brushed off as just a type of summary... many writers casually summarize a product's features without much thought to the potential power and wasted real estate of the bullet point section.

You see, one bullet may appeal to one specific type of individual, maybe one who's more emotionally driven. While another can be designed to appeal to another distinct type of personality. This is why I like to think of bullet points as "conversation starters" with my audience's subconscious, each having its own particular appeal and angle.
Let's take a look at how to craft remarkable bullet points to maximum results...
As you can see it's not all that complex, but that's the point! We want them to be focused and get to their point quickly without much fluff.
Nextly - Where should we be using bullet points?
There are different schools of thought but in marketing terms I find bullets to do best in the following situations:
Now here is something that even experienced marketers can improve on... expanding upon the BENEFIT in the bullet point. On the sales page for my book (I've also used this strategy many times on different products), you will notice that it doesn’t just list out a few different features/benefits... it lists at least 30 of them.
Some refer to specific chapters of the book others, while others might refer to just one specific paragraph in the book.
The point of this bullet point section isn’t to just list "what precisely in the book" as much as going into what really matters to the potential buyer: the results they can expect to experience if they purchase the book.
In short don’t just list what your product or service does, list out the benefits of its many distinct features.
Consider how they all work together to build upon the core promise of the product/service, this paints a beautiful picture for your prospect of an ideal result from making the purchase. This also creates an inform buyer, resulting in happier customers and can inspire action in even the most skeptical of prospects.
Now that you have the form and function of compelling bullet points, the next step is to answer the question:
What benefits are profoundly important to my audience?
Consider this,
Many of the benefits are clear to you...
... especially if you created the product/service to solve a problem for yourself.
However, there are always many benefits (often the most powerful ones) that our experience alone can't surface.
This is especially true if we are working for someone else’s product/service.

I'm sure you have hundreds of questions about bullet points (who doesn't) but let's get one basic one out of the way...
Why are they called "bullet points" in the first place?
I’m sure there’s the detailed dictionary, linguistically, analysis of the history of the term - but personally I rather like the built-in metaphor it brings to mind.
A "bullet", as in ammunition, is a magnificent metaphor for "bullet point" the literary symbol... even if that wasn’t meant to be.
A bullet point, much like an actual bullet, is...
I am sure they are more relatable metaphorical attributes, but I’m already dangerously close to a politically incorrect statement, so let’s shift from metaphor to reality.
In marketing, bullet points are often incorrectly brushed off as just a type of summary... many writers casually summarize a product's features without much thought to the potential power and wasted real estate of the bullet point section.
📷 In marketing bullet points are a critical tool for both grabbing attention and driving action.
You see, one bullet may appeal to one specific type of individual, maybe one who's more emotionally driven. While another can be designed to appeal to another distinct type of personality. This is why I like to think of bullet points as "conversation starters" with my audience's subconscious, each having its own particular appeal and angle.
Let's take a look at how to craft remarkable bullet points to maximum results...
As you can see it's not all that complex, but that's the point! We want them to be focused and get to their point quickly without much fluff.
Nextly - Where should we be using bullet points?
There are different schools of thought but in marketing terms I find bullets to do best in the following situations:
Now here is something that even experienced marketers can improve on... expanding upon the BENEFIT in the bullet point. On the sales page for my book (I've also used this strategy many times on different products), you will notice that it doesn’t just list out a few different features/benefits... it lists at least 30 of them.
Some refer to specific chapters of the book others, while others might refer to just one specific paragraph in the book.
The point of this bullet point section isn’t to just list "what precisely in the book" as much as going into what really matters to the potential buyer: the results they can expect to experience if they purchase the book.
In short don’t just list what your product or service does, list out the benefits of its many distinct features.
Consider how they all work together to build upon the core promise of the product/service, this paints a beautiful picture for your prospect of an ideal result from making the purchase. This also creates an inform buyer, resulting in happier customers and can inspire action in even the most skeptical of prospects.
Now that you have the form and function of compelling bullet points, the next step is to answer the question:
What benefits are profoundly important to my audience?
Consider this,
Many of the benefits are clear to you...
... especially if you created the product/service to solve a problem for yourself.
However, there are always many benefits (often the most powerful ones) that our experience alone can't surface.
This is especially true if we are working for someone else’s product/service.
